What is Kia Smart Cruise Control?

What Does Cruise Control Do?

Cruise control is a feature that lets you set and drive your vehicle at a specific speed. When cruise control is selected, you won't need to keep your foot on the accelerator pedal, which can prevent fatigue. Cruise control is an excellent way for drivers to save fuel, as the consistent speed will put less stress on your engine.

These days, adaptive cruise control is featured in plenty of vehicles. This type of cruise control will let you set the desired speed while keeping a safe distance between the car in front of you.

So, What Exactly is Kia Smart Cruise Control?

Kia Smart Cruise Control is essentially a variant of adaptive cruise control. It monitors the vehicle in front of you, keeps a safe distance, and maintains a consistent speed. This feature will keep tabs on your driving style, including inter-vehicle distance, acceleration, and reaction speed. As a result, Kia Smart Cruise Control adapts to you.

If equipped, the feature utilizes different sensors to keep you safe, including a front-view camera, front radar, and front corner radars.

How to Turn on Kia Smart Cruise Control

Utilizing the Kia Smart Cruise Control feature is easy! Press the Driving Assist button on the steering wheel's right side, which will turn the feature on. Your speed will be set to the current speed on your digital information cluster. The set speed will be maintained if no vehicle is in front of you.

However, if a vehicle is in front of you, your speed will decrease to keep a safe distance. When the vehicle in front of you moves faster, your Kia will move steadily.

Increasing and Decreasing Your Speed

Whenever you want to increase your speed, move the plus (+) switch up and quickly release it. Your speed will then increase by one MPH every time you do this. If you hold it down, your speed will increase by five MPH. The longer you hold the switch down, the faster your speed will increase until it reaches 112 MPH.

Push the minus (-) switch down to decrease your speed. Like the plus switch, continually pushing the minus switch down will decrease your speed by one MPH, while holding it down will reduce it by five MPH. You can lower your speed until you reach 20 MPH.

You can temporarily cancel Kia Smart Cruise Control by pressing the brake pedal and resume it by pressing the plus or minus button.
